Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Discretionary Commission Arrangement (DCA)?
A DCA was an arrangement between a car finance lender and a dealer or broker that allowed the intermediary to set the interest rate on a customer's finance deal - and receive a higher commission the more they charged. The FCA found this created an inherent conflict of interest and banned the practice in January 2021.
How much could my claim be worth?
Claim values vary depending on the size of your finance agreement, the interest rate applied, and the length of the term. The average claim is estimated at over £829, but larger or multiple agreements can result in significantly higher redress. Our team will calculate the precise figure for your specific agreement.
What is the FCA PS26/3 redress scheme?
PS26/3 is the FCA's formal redress scheme published in 2026, requiring lenders to contact affected customers, calculate the correct redress owed, and make payment. The scheme sets out a standardised methodology for calculating compensation including return of excess commission and statutory interest. First for Justice ensures your claim is calculated correctly and that you receive your full entitlement.
Do I need my original finance documents?
No - we can request all necessary documentation from your lender on your behalf. All we need initially is some basic information about you and your finance agreement to get started.
Will making a claim affect my credit score?
No. Making a complaint or claim under the FCA redress scheme does not affect your credit rating or your ability to obtain finance in the future.
What are your fees?
We operate on a strict no win, no fee basis. Our fee is 30% + VAT of the compensation we recover for you. If your claim is unsuccessful, you pay nothing. There are no upfront or hidden charges.
